Jack Lowe, Author of DigitalBasics

Well, it must be time to introduce myself.

I'm Jack Lowe, a Photographer and Printmaker based in Newcastle upon Tyne, a fine city in the north eastern corner of England.

I am also the author of this site and I welcome you whole-heartedly to a long-overdue window on the contents of my mind.

From Assistant to Photographer to Printmaker and Retoucher, I have worked in the photographic industry since the mid Nineties.

About thirteen years ago, I made my first digital inkjet print for my portfolio on an A4 Epson 760 and, as they say, "a light came on".

My peers loved my prints and, inadvertently, the demand soon snow-balled enough for me to provide printing and retouching services to the industry rather than simply for myself.

And so it has been ever since...that I have worked with an extraordinary array of talented people: From photographers to advertising agencies; from artists to architects; from design groups to colour scientists.

On first writing this page in January 2011, I was starting a new journey akin to the one I made with that very first inkjet print.

This site isn't about me, however. It's about sharing the information I've gathered over the last thirteen years, making my knowledge and experience easily available to you in a no-frills manner.

It is by no means finished yet, quite the opposite. I expect the site and collection of articles to continue maturing over time. New words will appear along with imagery to aid explanation, sometimes arriving together and sometimes not...!

Down the line, though, I expect the site to become a well-rounded hive of information for anybody who cares to take a peek.

So, sit back and enjoy the ride. I'm glad you could make it.
